Proving that age ain't nothing but a number, veteran rockers — and current cover-story subjects — the Rolling Stones debuting at #1 this week on the ARIA album chart, with their new album Blue & Lonesome. It's their first top spot placement since 1994's Voodoo Lounge and the group's seventh overall number one, with their long chart history stretching all the way back to their self-titled 1964 debut.
Meanwhile, last week's #1, The Weeknd's Starboy, slipped back to #8, just ahead of Childish Gambino's Awaken, My Love! at #9, one of just two debut entries in this week's top 20. The other being the latest in Cold Chisel's ongoing Live Tapes series, Vol. 3: Live At The Manly Vale Hotel, Sydney June 7, 1980, the highest peak yet from the albums released in the series.
Former number one, Metallica's Hardwired..., slipped just one more spot to #3, with the rest of the top ten remaining reserved for festive releases (Michael Buble's Christmas, Farnham and Newtown John's Friends For Christmas) and popular Christmas gift ideas — Adele's 25 and Keith Urban's Ripchord. The latter re-entering the top ten off the back of his current national tour and recent Grammy nomination.
